Niku Bolourchi

Learning Specialist

Hello! I am Niku Bolourchi. I have been a Learning Specialist, specializing in reading, since 2000, partnering with parents to restore dignity and the joy of learning to children and adolescents. I have my Bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders from San Francisco State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a preliminary credential from the University of San Francisco. I have worked in a variety of settings, including: one-to-one and small groups, in a center, at schools, and in home. For 7 1/2 years, I was a co-owner of a small educational tutoring center, which I loved, but didn't allow me to spend as much time doing my favorite thing, working directly with students.  I utilize multi-sensory teaching methods, sensory integration tools, and a natural intuition in working with students. I provide a safe, nurturing, environment where student's feel supported to take risks and do the hard work to develop their skills in something that is challenging for them. 

I am a born and raised San Franciscan who loves the Bay Area and is committed to and passionate about seeing the kids here love learning and thrive. My other loves are walking by the beach, reading, drinking coffee, and enjoying time with family and friends.

The Story of "My Brain Station"

Several years ago, one of the students I worked with, called the place he worked with me, the "Brain Station." He thought of it as a happy place where he got to do brain exercises so he got stronger with reading and writing. I loved that! And so, thanks to Benjamin, I now have, "My Brain Station."
